Traveling with Special Items
Limited liability release tags (LRT) must be completed and signed by the passenger for all special items upon check-in.
Sporting Equipment
Bicycles
Bicycles will be accepted as checked baggage with a limited release. Passenger is responsible for proper packaging of the bicycle. We highly recommend having the bicycle properly packaged in a box or bike bag with the handle bars turned, the tires partially deflated and the pedals removed for better protection.
Bicycles will not be included in determining the free baggage allowance and will always be subject to an excess baggage charge of $50.00 per piece.
Musical Instruments
Perishable, Fragile and Valuable Items
Changes in air pressure, long flights or delays may compromise perishable items. First Air assumes no liability for any perishable items or the damage that they cause.
When transporting fragile items, passengers must ensure safe packaging with adequate cushioning material to prevent any breakage.
First Air assumes no liability for fragile, valuable, or perishable articles including (but not limited to) money, jewelry, cameras, video and electronic equipment, silverware, business documents, samples, paintings, carvings, furs, manuscripts, or similar items.
Antlers and Trophies
First Air will accept sporting trophies such as animal horns and antlers. Please note that antlers will not be included in determining the free baggage allowance and will always be subject to a charge of CAD $100.00 for each full rack and CAD $25.00 for each split rack one way.
When traveling between Kuujjuaq and Montreal on the “TIHUNT” type fares, the charge will be of CAD $100.00 for each full rack and two split rack at no charge.
Antlers should be packaged properly to avoid damages.
