Northern communities rely on many resources in order to develop and grow. At First Air we believe the most important resource of all is people. That's why First Air supports events and communities across the north. From major athletic events like the Arctic Winter Games to community projects, it's First Air's business to be your partner in healthy lives and communities.
When you think we may be able to help, call us for major sponsorship enquiries or apply on-line or pick up an application form at any First Air counter for our Community Development Program.
Community Development Program
Elders, youth, volunteers, business people; everyone has a role to play in making our communities a better place in which to live. For over half a century First Air has been inextricably woven into the fabric of the North, not only as air transportation providers but as family, friends, neighbours and community volunteers. We take that grass roots involvement to the next level with our Community Development Program.
The Community Development Program offers Northern residents the opportunity to apply for assistance for a wide variety of community-building applications. First Air may offer assistance to projects that fall within one of the categories listed below:
- Community wellness initiatives
- Youth development programs
- Cultural and community events
- Literacy and educational programs
- Economic development opportunities
- Sporting events
Assistance can be offered in the form of complimentary and/or discounted airfares or promotional items. If your group is planning an initiative that can be incorporated into one of these categories we would like to hear from you.
Recognizing Our Partnership
In lieu of our donation we would appreciate some recognition in return. If your group is successful in your application for community development assistance we would appreciate your recognizing the contribution First Air has made. There are a number of ways this can be done:
- Logos on printed material, promotional clothing and advertising
- Writing to your MLA, mayor and council, other community leaders
- A press release to the media
- A banner or flag at your event
- An invitation to First Air personnel to attend your event as guests or volunteers
- Complimentary tickets to your event
- Photos of the event
- Display of First Air literature at your event
These are just some suggestions. Maybe your group can think of some unique methods of recognition of your own.
